Three males, five albums, Tafadzwa Nyakabau, Donald Mhuka and Tinashe Bonga the visionaries of DFT music group are destined to brew waves in the music industry because of their versatility. Celebrity Magazine had an interview with the group as they take us through their four years journey.

In brief tell us a bit about your group and what inspired it
United Kingdom group One Direction inspired us. Even though, we all do have previous solo projects we blended our ideas together and we thought of becoming one group which fused Hip-hop, R n B and dancehall together since we did such genres as solo artists.

What have you achieve thus far?
One of our tracks caught the attention of an international DJ. The track called Good Times Never Kill. Also we have managed to raise Breast Cancer Awareness also catching the attention of Botswana and Namibian Cancer Associations through the Charity song we did for them

Who helps you fund your projects?
Our Manager. He’s been very patient and helpful to us.

Any collaborations and any future collaborations as well.
We have a number of collaborations. We have collaborations with Trevor Dongo – Ndasarudza Iwe, Andy Muridzo-Kandeya ndeya, Ngoni Kambarami – Babe remuraini, Shinsoman – Shaku Shaku, Jah Master – Ndasarudza iwe remix, Rockfat – She’s my fire from Zambia, Accurate JoJo – Money Deh from Sierra Leone, Anita Jaxson – Please don’t go tonight and Earl94 – Pengereka.

How did Covid-19 regulations affect you?
They affected travelling and meeting up as a team to write and share music. They have been a great impact on us not visiting studios. Also performances have been hindered because people are not allowed to gather so we have not been getting shows.

Which artists do you aspire to work with?
Internationally we aspire working with Burna Boy, Casper Nyovest, Ava Max and locally we still have our eyes on Jah Prayza and Winky D We know one day we will work with them.

Where do you see yourselves post the pandemic era?
Making exclusive, champagne music as always. You don’t need to listen to our music twice for you to know it’s good music.

What projects are you working on?
We are currently working on single projects not on an Album. We cannot really travel during this pandemic time so we have been doing singles.
