Zimdancehall Chanter Soul Jah Love Has Died
HARARE – Talented ZimDancehall chanter Soul Jah Love died on Tuesday aged 31 after a protracted battle with diabetes. He was declared dead upon arrival at Mbuya Dorcas Hospital in Harare.
Ironically Soul Jah Love was involved in an accident on the 16th of February 2020 and escaped death. One year later, on the same day, death knocks with power. Rest in Power Soul Jah Love!
He was born Soul Musaka but known to his legion of fans as Sauro.
Soul Musaka rose to fame in 2012 belting hit songs such as ‘Ndini Uya uya’ and ‘Gum-kum’. Soul’s life was plagued with tragedy and tribulations, almost from birth, with his mother dying when he was a toddler, to losing his twin brother John at 15, to his father dying in 2005.
The talented musician was a known diabetic often missing shows on account of the ailment and a raging battle with drug addiction, the latter which costed his marriage.
Soul Jah Love passes at a time when many least expect it especially after allegedly being healed after receiving prayers from Prophet Walter Magaya (to which soul Jah Love and Charlton Muropa sang a track titled Zvasiyana).
Soul Jah Love was long time friend (frienemy) of Seh Calaz.
He was once married to Bounty Lisa but the marriage deteriorated and she moved on.

A year in history< The story of ZIMDANCEHALL will be empty without the mention of SOUL JAH LOVE & SEH CALAZ’s beef. The lyrical battle took the genre and movement to an apex high in 2014 at STING. Challenging each other to dream, they inspired a whole generation to dream. Rest in peace CHIBABA.
Chibaba matisiya. I still cannot believe it, but who are we to reverse it. You always had a way to make everyone laugh, even when we least expected a joke from anyone, you would pull up. This was just how talented you were, your name should be mentioned well up there amongst the greats as one of the most talented artists Zimbabwe ever had.I remember you asked me if we could do a song 3 different times and on all occasions my answer was the same; “Who in his right mind would not want to do a song with Soul Jah Love”. You stood me up at the studio on all 3 occasions and somehow I don’t know how i still find that funny. The last time we met you said “this time ndakuuya zvemashuwa”. There will be no replacement for you.Rest In Peace my brother, seems like the years were too short but the music you gave us is enough to last a life time.
Saddened to learn of Soul Jah Love’s untimely death. Painful news this. My sincere condolences to his family, the music fraternity and the generality of Zimbabwean music lovers. May his soul rest in peace.
Remembering Soul Jah Love, 22/11/1989 – 16/02/2021. A difficult man he was to secure for an interview, but on 28 September 2018, he set down on @TheRush with Misred & Simba. #RIPCHIBABA
