Amakhosi launches ZITF Arts and Culture Camp
THE country’s oldest and largest arts, culture and heritage hub Amakhosi Cultural Centre is launching a massive 10 day creative master class workshops camp from April 20 to 30 at their Cultural Centre to run during ZITF Bulawayo and Zimbabwe’s largest showcase.
This is going to be an annual event for creative teenagers under Amakhosi’s Inxusa Festival brands.
Dubbed ZITF Arts and Culture Camp @ Amakhosi Cultural Centre 20-30 April the 10 day long event will host for creative teenagers and children a series of master class workshops on such skills as playing musical instruments, recording music, stage acting, screen acting, writing, dance, singing, poetic voice, visual arts, traditional food, Bulawayo history and heritage tours for those interested in being heritage tour guides, make up, costume and fashion.
Its an open workshop call for master classes on any of the listed subjects of Arts, Culture and Heritage.
As it is school holidays any child or any parent who feels that their children have passion for creativity are free to apply and register to participate.
The Artistic Director of Amakhosi Cultural Centre Charles Msungah said that participants who will come up with outstanding creations will get a chance to showcase at ZITF open spaces.
“On public days at ZITF participants from the Arts and Culture Camp will all go to ZITF grounds and Exhibitor Stands and present what they created at the creative workshops as part of showcasing their creativity and creating a unique entertaining atmosphere at ZITF using a busking model where ever they can find suitable space and Exhibitor Hosting.”
He added, “We invite Exhibitors to contact the ZITF Arts and Culture Camp organizers in advance if they are interested in partnering with participants to showcase at their stand. Exhibitors are also invited to visit Amakhosi Cultural Centre to come and select the talent they like most during the Camp Workshops to match their exhibition theme.”
Participants are welcome from all over the world as ZITF is an international event.
Countries that are exhibiting at ZITF and want to also bring in their cultural and heritage experience for promoting intercultural conversations and dialogue are welcome to register to bring participants to the Arts and Culture Camp the first of its kind in Bulawayo if not the whole of Zimbabwe.
Thulani Mbambo, Head of Production said, “Workshop resource persons will be drawn from performing arts companies that are resident at Amakhosi Cultural Centre. These include Anold and Sekunjalo MaAfrica, Sandra Ndebele and Izintombizomqangala, Unique Records, Amakhosi Cultural Tours, Zambezi Shangane Television Series and Amakhosi Theatre Rep.”
“This is part of Amakhosi Cultural Centre’s relaunch this year where the hub is relaunching its strategic units before relaunching the Cultural Centre itself towards the end of the year. In March it relaunched its Amakhosi Theatre productions unit,” the Chairman of Amakhosi Cont Mhlanga added.
This year’s ZITF is set for April 23-27 at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre under the theme, “Propagating Industrial Growth through Trade and Investment.”
During ZITF 2019 the Amakhosi Cultural Centre will relaunch its Inxusa Festival unit.
